I love connecting breadboard prototypes. I connect them neatly with colored short wires (I don’t like using arduino wires). The properly connected bread board ensures that the design becomes still functional even after 10’s of years and I’m experiencing this myself. For example, the board I developed in 2003 has a photo in the paper (I mentioned in the graduation project photo page), this breadboard is still existing and working after 18 years!
Before fabricating any of the 100 complete PCB I mentioned before, each design must have a breadboard prototype first. For surface mounted PCB designs, I make an adaptor for every SMD component so that it can fit into the breadboard.
